mumford and sons in raleigh last night. they invited joe kwon from the avett brothers to play “winter winds” with them. it was incredible.
Tornado/Storm aftermath update:
- Governer Bev Perdue has declared a State of Emergency.
- The death toll is currently at 22, with hundreds injured. 11 were killed in Bertie County, and 3 children were killed in Wake County. Other counties where fatalities occurred include: Johnston, Cumberland, Harnett, Lee, and Bladen county.
- Shaw University in Raleigh is closed for the rest of the semester.
- Numerous buildings, businesses, schools, property, and/or homes are destroyed or sustained serious damage. More than 450 homes are damaged, and those with mobile homes/trailers were particularly affected.
- President Obama has offered federal assistance.
- Important farmland and farms have been destroyed or damaged.
- As of yesterday, 80,000 were without power, but I think power has been restored to a lot of residents by now, but assumedly thousands are still without power.
this was pretty scary, honestly. i was about a mile from where the tornado hit downtown raleigh. everything on saunders st. is demolished and there are still power outages throughout the city. it was so surreal to walk outside and see uprooted trees and whole buildings destroyed. it’s something i can’t even describe…

i saw manchester orchestra a few weeks ago at cat’s cradle. quite possibly one of the best shows i’ve seen in a long while. you can’t see much in the video, but just listen. :)
